Each spring, Washington University in St. Louis celebrates one of its most cherished traditions: Commencement on the historic Danforth Campus. Held at Francis Olympic Field, the ceremony brings together graduates, faculty, family members, and friends to honor years of hard work, achievement, and perseverance.
The day begins with a formal processional and features inspiring remarks from university leaders and distinguished guest speakers, the conferral of academic and honorary degrees, and a celebratory recessional as students officially become WashU alumni.
But the celebration doesn’t end there. Following the ceremony, the campus transforms into a vibrant festival atmosphere where graduates and their loved ones can continue the festivities with food trucks, interactive experiences, photo opportunities, and memorable moments shared with the WashU community.
